When an older loved one needs support to live safely, comfortably, and independently at home, home care services are a great solution. But what happens when a loved one’s caregiver goes home at the end of their shift? Unless the older loved one is receiving 24/7 care, there are intervals where they’ll be on their own and without immediate access to assistance.

For many, 24/7, around-the-clock care is simply not preferred, financially viable, or realistic. We realize that gaps in care can result in stress for family caregivers, and safety issues for older loved ones. Because of this, we’ve invested heavily in researching effective and nonintrusive solutions to close these gaps.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new partnership with StackCare, and to share how it’s going to elevate the level of care Home With You Senior Care can provide to you and your family!

With SmartCare by StackCare, you receive comfort in knowing a family member has technology in place that will provide an added layer of support between caregiver visits.

What Is SmartCare and How Does It Work?

You’re likely familiar with other forms of safety technology for seniors, such as cameras and wearable pendants. In contrast to those devices, SmartCare is unobtrusive and won’t impede an older adult’s lifestyle – because they do not have to wear anything at all or stress over being recorded on camera. Instead, SmartCare utilizes small, discreetly-positioned motion sensors which are placed around the home. In just a few minutes, the system is up and running.

From there, artificial intelligence learns about the person’s standard activities, routines, and behaviors by collecting data provided by the motion sensors. Instant notifications are sent to you and/or our care team to warn of any changes in motion patterns that could be a reason for concern. For example, if the person’s trips to the bathroom are increasing, it might suggest a UTI or other health concern.

These real-time updates allow for proactive, immediate intervention, to lower the possibility of hospitalizations or the need for the older adult to face a move to an assisted living facility.

What Are the Advantages of SmartCare?

Probably the biggest advantage is the peace of mind you will have, knowing your loved one is safe and well. With daily updates, you can feel comfortable knowing that the older adult has had a good night’s sleep and is engaging in normal activities around the home.

Other benefits include:

  • No batteries to change, cameras, or microphones
  • Nothing the person has to remember to put on or press for help
  • No feeling of intrusion that a camera could cause
  • A chat feature to easily share information with loved ones
  • Built-in thermometers to ensure the home temperature is comfortable
  • Privacy protection
  • Quick installation and operation
  • Around-the-clock access to real-time insights and alerts
  • And more

There Are Different Ways to Use SmartCare

We realize that each person’s needs are unique. That’s why we offer several different ways for you to integrate SmartCare into a loved one’s care routine:

  • 24/7 monitoring by our home health care experts
  • A “Share the Care” model in which we monitor throughout the day, and your family takes over through the evenings and weekends
  • A standalone model for your family to use without home care services
